The last local government elections were held in May 2011 and I am now about half way through my term of office.

The Mayor recently released a Mid-Term Report for our city government and it is also a good time for me to report to you, the residents and voters of Ward 57, on more local matters.  Each ward councillor is provided with an annual budget of R700 000 to support and initiate local projects.

The City’s financial year runs from 1 July to 30 June and the ward allocation projects and funding are finalised about 18 months before the start of the relevant financial year.

Ward 57 is blessed with an active Ward Committee, which includes representatives of civic organisations active in the ward, and I have been assisted in prioritising appropriate projects for ward funding by the committee.
