2 job creation projects, that I proposed under the Mayor’s Special Projects Programme, have been approved.

This project will employ 20 unemployed ward residents, taken randomly from the City of Cape Town’s Job Seekers Data Base, and provide them with 75 days each of work opportunity. The project will involve the cleaning up of Salt River. Following several complaints about the condition of the streets and neighbourhood I proposed a special project for the area to be cleaned up. The projct will roll out in the next few weeks.

The second project that has been approved for funding is a project to clear the alien vegetation at the Walmer Estate community facility – Upper Cambridge Street Sports fields (“The Greens”). This project will employ 10 unemployed ward residents for 71 days and will see the sports complex getting a clean up and will also remove alien vegetation.

These projects will see an injection of about R500 000 into the ward and will provide some work experience and an income opportunity for 30 unemployed local residents.

There are a few other projects, that I have proposed, that are still being assessed.

  1. Sean Russell says:

I have recently been retrenched, I was employed as an operations manager in the cleaning industry and am very interested in leading a team to clean the areas of Cape Town. I would very much like the opportunity to obtain some work as well as employment of unemployed residents

  2. Rashieda Barendse says:

How do I make application for employment for the Salt River Cleaning Project. I live in Maitland and have managing and supervising experience?

  3. Eugene Claassen says:

I am very impressed with what you are doing.

As a DA supporter, I would like to do the same here in the Vaal Tri-angle.
I am a Project Manager and a Safety Officer.
58 year young, and would like to make a difference to the people.

    What can you suggest?
